PRESS RELEASE NOVEMBER 11, 2024
Tracy, CA--Tracy Earth Project, a nonprofit dedicated to environmental education and sustainability, is pleased to announce the appointment of Manju Theresa Mathew as the organization’s new president, effective November 11, 2024. She previously served as the board secretary.
Ms. Mathew is assuming this leadership role as Dotty Nygard resigns from her position as president and board member in light of her recent election to the Tracy City Council. Ms. Nygard, who founded Tracy Earth Project in 2019, will continue to serve as a consultant, ensuring a seamless transition and ongoing support for the organization’s initiatives.
Ms. Mathew has long been a passionate advocate for both local environmental initiatives and global poverty alleviation efforts. Under her leadership, Tracy Earth Project will continue its mission to promote environmental sustainability and foster eco-friendly practices within the community.
“Manju has been an integral member of the Tracy Earth Project from the beginning. Her dedication to sustainability and her ability to turn ideas into impactful actions make her an exceptional leader,” said Dotty Nygard. “I am confident that under Manju’s leadership, Tracy Earth Project will continue to thrive and expand its reach, making a meaningful difference in our community and beyond.”
In addition to her work with the Tracy Earth Project, Ms. Mathew is actively involved in global advocacy efforts as a volunteer with the Borgen Project. She holds master’s degrees in Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and in International Relations and National Security Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
“I am honored and excited to take on this new role at Tracy Earth Project,” said Ms. Mathew. “We remain deeply committed to advancing environmental, social, and economic sustainability. I look forward to working with Dotty, our dedicated team of sponsors, volunteers, and community partners as we continue to grow and make a lasting impact.”
